The Alegria Guild of Children’s Hospital Central California was founded in 1949 by a group of civic-minded women with the goal of bringing a Children’s Hospital to the San Joaquin Valley. Their goal was realized on October 26, 1952 when Valley Children’s Hospital and Guidance Clinic opened its doors as a 42-bed pediatric hospital at the corner of Shields and Millbrook Avenues in Fresno. More than 50 years later, the continuation of the dream of five women has become a bright, beautiful reality in the form of a regional medical center dedicated exclusively to the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of children. Now located in Madera, known as Children’s Hospital Central California, the 226 bed hospital is the cornerstone of a collaborative pediatric health delivery system that will provide a continuum of care to children in the San Joaquin Valley and far beyond! The Alegria Guild, one of 15 Guilds of Children’s Hospital Central California, serves the Madera area, raising funds through events such as A Day in the Country, Children’s Hospital Reserve, Black Tie Bash, and numerous mini-fundraisers and partnerships with local businesses. For additional information about becoming a member of the Alegria Guild or to partner with the guild in a fundraising effort for the sole benefit of Children’s Hospital Central California, please contact us at the address below. |
